Benefits of Dhaincha –

Dhaincha is a valuable crop of the summer season (March - July) with multi use It finds use in green manuring, soil reclamation, as an animal feed and in agro-forestry ¸

It adds organic matters to the soil and stimulates the activity of soil microorganisms ¸

It improves the structure of soil thereby improving the WHC of the soil also decrease run off and erosion happen by rain ¸

It takes nutrients from lower layer of the soil and adds to the upper layer of the soil in which the green manures are incorporated ¸

These are the leguminous crops and hence fixes the nitrogen from atmosphere and adds to the soil ¸

It increases the availability of certain plants nutrients like P2O5, Ca, Mg & Fe

Procedure –

Grow the green manure crops in your home garden ¸

When plant attains full growth (up to 50 % flowering) incorporate or buried the crop in soil ¸

Care should be taken that crop should be buried before 50 % of flowering to get maximum benefit of green manuring
