Statice

Statice bears papery flowers in a wide variety of colors. The flowers dry well -- so much so they practically dry on the plant. The plant is also very drought-tolerant, so you can enjoy its blooms even if you forget to water it from time to time. In fact, statice thrives in hot, sunny spots with well-drained soil. Plant them outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.

Growing Details:

Statice is easy to grow and salt tolerant. Statice Seeds can be initiated indoors 6-8 weeks before planting or sown directly outdoors.Statice plants thrive in average, well-drained garden loam. 

Maintenance:

Statice plants perform best with a bit of benign neglect. They like lean, poor soils on the dry side. Too much water or fertilizer causes the plants to flop or succumb to fungal infections.

As the blooming stalks of your statice plants grow throughout the season, they may droop onto the ground. You can support the plants with a grow-through ring stake, or by planting them densely so that they support one another.
